Homenaje póstumo a nuestro querido compañero Antonio Díaz Sandoval

 

HOMENAJE EN ESPAÑOL

Los amigos y compañeros del Club Rotario de los Chillos Milenio hemos querido que se rompa el respetuoso cuanto expresivo silencio que enmarca este triste acontecimiento, para pronunciar, por mi intermedio, sus oraciones de agradecimiento y despedida a nuestro gran amigo y compañero Antonio Díaz.

 

El Club, me ha pedido dar unas palabras de despedida para Antonio Díaz, fallecido el pasado Domingo 06 de diciembre del 2020. Me siento muy honrado por el  encargo, sobre todo por la gran humanidad del personaje que estamos despidiendo.

 

Es muy difícil, tal vez casi imposible, hablar cuando son los sollozos, y no las palabras, los que afloran a nuestra garganta, y cuando los ojos nublados por las lágrimas nos impiden leer lo que escribimos, al no tener la valentía de improvisar en una circunstancia como esta.

 

Antonio ha sido víctima de una enfermedad que ha sido y sigue siendo una ejecutora fría, cruel y destructora.

 

A él le gustaría que en estos momentos, que no solo honremos su memoria, sino que también deberíamos honrar la memoria de quienes se fueron brutalmente en estos meses de pandemia y honremos a los muertos anónimos y silenciosos que perdieron la vida por esta terrible enfermedad.

 

La memoria y gratitud es un deber; el mejor homenaje que podemos hacer es mantenernos unidos en su recuerdo y seguir construyendo el país por el que él tanto lucho.

 

Nuestro club Rotario y la Unidad Educativa Emile-Jaques Dalcroze están profunda y eternamente agradecidos, por tantos años de entrega eficiente prestada a la comunidad a través de Rotary y su institución educativa.

 

Personalmente estoy agradecido, por haber podido compartir con él, aprender de él, y conocerlo como un hombre valeroso, disciplinado, afectuoso, silencioso cuando correspondía, pero vibrante a la hora de entregar generosamente sus conocimientos y sus ideas para prestar mejor servicio, alegre y comunicativo en nuestras vidas particulares, de su familia y de quienes estuvimos cercanos afectivamente a él.

 

Considerado por sus colegas, respetado por sus alumnos, querido por los que tuvimos la gracia de gozar de su amistad, Antonio, como compañero, como profesor, como Director de la U.E.E.J.D tuvo la virtud de saber escuchar, observar y luego evaluar los problemas que nunca faltan en la difícil actividad docente y administrativa, para darle las adecuadas soluciones. Por estas y otras virtudes, hacer una semblanza de la vida de Antonio Díaz, requeriría escribir muchas páginas. Él quiso y amó con devoción a su esposa, hijos y nietos y sirvió con verdadera entrega a su profesión en el colegio Dalcroze, así como al club Rotario de los Chillos Milenio y el resto de la comunidad.

 

 

 

 

Por eso es por lo que todos hoy venimos a celebrar la vida y la obra de Antonio Díaz, sí, digo bien, a celebrar su paso por la vida y la trascendencia de sus logros. A rendir homenaje de reconocimiento al sabio, al ejecutivo, al profesor, al esposo ejemplar y al padre de familia, al amigo y consejero que siempre supo ser. Pero también al hombre enérgico y valiente, cuando las circunstancias así lo aconsejaron.

Durante toda su vida, con honestidad y sencillez prístina, predicó con el ejemplo, siendo el modelo de muchas generaciones del colegio Dalcroze. ¡Qué gran fortaleza intelectual y de espíritu le otorgó Dios!, para que pudiera volcarla a todos sus alumnos, para que fuera un forjador de triunfadores y sobre todo ejemplo vivo de entereza y de profesionalismo. Cómo admiramos todo aquello que fue capaz de poseer y nunca guardó para sí. Cómo es de grande, que jamás conoció el egoísmo.

 

Además, por encima de todas esas cualidades, Antonio tuvo siempre una virtud superior a todas las que hemos mencionado: Su ética a toda prueba, su corrección en todos los actos de su vida, la transparencia con que actuaba porque sabía que siempre procedía bien y correctamente. Por eso hoy celebramos jubilosos su paso por la vida, tal vez con un dolor egoísta por que no vamos a tener de cerca sus consejos oportunos, o sus llamadas de atención ante cualquier error o falta.

 

De despedida, en su larga jornada hacia el descanso definitivo. Su muerte enluta a Rotary y, particularmente, al Club Rotario de los Chillos Milenio, a los amigos que compartimos con él y sufrimos con su pérdida tan repentina, cuando aún le quedaba mucho por entregar.

 

El Valle de los Chillos, es el pueblo al cual el pertenecía y que lo vio esforzarse para servir a sus semejantes a través de Rotary y de su unidad educativa, instituciones que llevaba pegadas al corazón y que en cada uno de sus actos se manifestaba, fiel a los principios éticos que impulsaba permanentemente y que aquilatamos, lo mismo que sus virtudes, por lo que honramos sus merecimientos y admiramos la dedicación que tuvo a Rotary, a su trabajo en el colegio Dalcroze, a su familia, a su esposa Tanya , sus hijos y nietos y a todos que le conocieron.

 

Él ahora se encuentra en su reposo definitivo, por derecho propio, pues en su vida no sólo cumplió eficientemente las tareas que se le encomendaran, sino que se consagró a sus compañeros rotarios, a sus alumnos y personal del colegio, con nobleza, con afecto y con lealtad, valores que eran tan propios de él.

 

En nuestro Club, Siempre lo acogeremos como a uno de sus hijos predilectos y le rendimos, por mi intermedio, en estos solemnes instantes, el homenaje de su respeto y agradecimiento.

 

Se ha ido Antonio, pero sus valores, su conducta y su amistad nos quedarán como herencia que contribuirán como ejemplo y motor para continuar con nuestra labor de ayuda a los más necesitados.

 

Antonio se ha ido sin poder conocer bien a sus nietos, pero estoy seguro de que sus hijos se encargaran de que ellos si le conozcan a él.

 

Nos deja el legado de su inagotable afán de servicio, sus esfuerzos por acrecentar esta relación fraternal existente entre los socios de los clubes rotarios desde hace casi veinte años, por acrecentar, en suma, los lazos entre los clubes rotarios, cumpliendo así la cuarta línea de acción de nuestro Objetivo Rotario.

 

Siempre he dicho que nadie se va, mientras se le recuerde, así que Antonio va a estar con todos los que hemos tenido la suerte de conocerle. Ahora querido Antonio, vuela y llega a tu nuevo destino donde sin duda te espera nuestro Señor y la gente que también te adora.

 

La muerte de personas cercanas golpea fuertemente; el dolor por la pérdida de una persona querida no tiene remedio. Sin embargo, a los creyentes nos alienta la Esperanza de que la muerte no es el fin de todo, sino un paso –doloroso al fin-; pero a través del cual descubrimos definitivamente el Rostro Amoroso de Dios. Creemos que en ese Encuentro definitivo con el Dios Bondadoso serán enjugadas todas las lágrimas.

 

A todos damos nuestro pésame, a su familia, a nuestra querida Tanya, a sus hijos Paola, Daniela y José Antonio, a sus nietos, familia política, a sus amigos socios de Rotary Club Chillos Milenio y a todos cuantos lamentan su pérdida. Rezamos por la familia de Antonio en este momento de dolor y pedimos a Dios el consuelo y el aliento para sus seres queridos.

 

Que sus restos mortales descansen en paz; que sus valores y su cariño, su simpleza, su energía iluminen nuestras mentes y presidan nuestros actos, que su recuerdo se mantenga entre nosotros y que su ejemplo sea para nosotros lección de vida.

 

 

ANTONIO, AMIGO NUESTRO. Allí donde estas ahora, Junto a la presencia de nuestro Dios y gozando del paraíso eterno, DESCANZA EN PAZ.

The friends and colleagues of the Rotary Club of Los Chillos Milenio wanted to break the respectful silence that frames this difficult moments, to combay, through me, their prayers of thanks and farewell to Antonio Díaz.

 

Our Club has asked me to say a few words of farewell to our dear friend Antonio Díaz, who died last Sunday, December 6, 2020. I have felt very honored by the commission, because of the great humanity of the character we are saying goodbye to.

 

It is very difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to speak when it is the sobs, and not the words, that come to our throats, and when our eyes are clouded with tears that prevent us from reading what we write, not having the courage to improvise in a circumstance like this.

 

Antonio has been the victim of an illness that has been and continues to be a cold, cruel and destructive performer.

 

I am sure that he would like us at this time not only to honor his memory, but also to honor the memory of those who left brutally in these months of pandemic and to honor the anonymous and silent dead who lost their lives because of this terrible pandemia.

 

Memory and gratitude are a must; the best tribute we can pay to him is to stand together in his memory and build the country that he worked so hard to achieve.

 

Our Rotary club and the Emile-Jaques Dalcroze Educational Unit are deeply and eternally grateful for so many years of efficient dedication to the community through Rotary and its educational institution.

 

I am personally grateful to have been able to share with him, learn from him, and know him as a courageous, disciplined, affectionate, silent man when it mattered, but vibrant in generous while giving his knowledge and ideas to better serve, joyful and communicative in our particular lives, his family`s and those of us who were affectionately close to him.

 

Considered by his colleagues, respected by his students, loved by those of us who had the grace of enjoying his friendship, Antonio, as a colleague, as a teacher, as Director of the educational unit had the virtue of knowing how to listen, observe and then evaluate the problems that are never lacking in the difficult teaching and administrative activity, in order to give him the appropriate solutions. For these and other virtues, to make a profile of Antonio Díaz's life would require writing many pages. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren with devotion and served with true dedication to his profession at Dalcroze School, as well as the Chillos Milenio Rotary Club.

 

 

 

 

That is why we all come today to celebrate the life and work of Antonio Díaz, yes, I say well, to celebrate his life and the significance of his achievements. To pay tribute in recognition of the wise man, the executive, the teacher, the exemplary husband and father, the friend and advisor he always knew how to be. But also to the energetic and courageous man, when the circumstances so needed to be.

 

Antonio is gone, but his values, his conduct and his friendship will remain as a legacy that will contribute to our improvement.

 

Antonio has left without being able to know his grandchildren well, but I am sure that his children will see to it that they do get to know him very well.

 

He leaves us the legacy of his inexhaustible desire to serve, his efforts to increase this fraternal relationship that has existed between the members of the Rotary clubs for almost twenty years, to increase, in short, the ties between the Rotary clubs, thus fulfilling the fourth line of action of our Rotary Objective.

 

Throughout his life, with honesty and pristine simplicity, he preached by example, being the model for many generations of the Dalcroze School. What great intellectual and spiritual strength God gave him, so that he could pass it on to all his students, so that he would be a forger of winners and above all a living example of integrity and professionalism. How we admire all that he was able to possess and never kept for himself. How great he is, that he never knew selfishness.

 

Furthermore, above all these qualities, Antonio always had a virtue superior to all those we have mentioned: his unquestionable ethics, his correctness in all the acts of his life, the transparency with which he acted because he knew that he always proceeded well and correctly. That is why today we celebrate his passage through life with joy, perhaps with a selfish pain because we are not going to have his timely advice, or his calls for attention in the face of any error or fault.

 

In his farewell, on his long journey towards his final rest. His death mourns Rotary and particularly the Chillos Milenio club, the friends we shared with him and we suffered with his sudden loss, when he still had much to give.

 

The  Chillos Valley is the village to which he belonged and which saw him strive to serve his fellow men through Rotary and his educational unit, institutions that he carried close to his heart and that in each of his actions he manifested, faithful to the ethical principles that he constantly promoted and that we cherish, as well as his virtues, so we honor his merits and admire the dedication he had to Rotary, to his work at Dalcroze School, to his family, to his wife Tanya, his children and grandchildren and to all who knew him.

 

 

 

 

 

He is now on his final resting destination, in his own right, for in his life he not only efficiently fulfilled the tasks entrusted to him, but he devoted himself to his fellow Rotarians, his students and staff at the school, with nobility, affection and loyalty, values that were so characteristic of him.

 

In our club, we will remember him as one of his finest sons and we pay him, in these solemn moments, this homage with respect and gratitude.

 

I have always said that nobody leaves us for good, as long as he is remembered, so Antonio will be with all of us who have been lucky enough to know him. Now, dear Antonio, fly away and arrive at your new destination where all mighty God and the people who also adore you will undoubtedly be waiting for you.

 

The death of people close to us, hits hard; the pain of losing a loved one is hopeless. However, we believers are encouraged by the Hope that death is not the end of everything, but a step - painful at the end -; but through which we definitely discover the Loving Face of God. We believe that in that definitive Encounter with the Beneficent God, all tears will be wiped away.

 

To all, we give our condolences, to his family, to our dear Tanya, to his children Paola, Daniela and José Antonio, to his grandchildren, to his friends, members of the Rotary Club of Los Chillos Milenio and to all those who mourn his loss. We pray for Antonio's family at this time of grief and ask God for comfort and encouragement for his loved ones.

 

May his mortal remains rest in peace; may his values and his love, his simplicity, his energy enlighten our minds and preside over our actions; may his memory be kept among us and may his example be a lesson of life for us.
